Data sources
UzMaps is built from openly licensed data that other people and organisations publish. Each source is listed below with what it provides, the credit its licence asks for, and a link to the licence itself. On the map, the ⓘ button lists the credits carried by the data on screen and links to this page.
A source stays on this page for as long as UzMaps ships data derived from it. The licences are an obligation, not a courtesy: if you show UzMaps tiles, search results, routes or photos in your own product, show the credits with them.

OpenStreetMap#
Most of the map comes from OpenStreetMap: roads, streets, paths and railways; buildings; land use, parks, water and administrative boundaries; street, place and water names; house numbers; and crossings, traffic signals, trees and bus stops. Search, geocoding and routing are built from the same data. UzMaps takes it from the Uzbekistan extract that Geofabrik publishes.

| Licence | Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0 |
| Terms | openstreetmap.org/copyright |
The ODbL is a share-alike licence: if you alter the data or build on it, you may distribute the result only under the same licence.
The water areas and lake centre lines in the tiles are also OpenStreetMap data, as prepared by osmdata.openstreetmap.de and osm-lakelines, and the same credit covers them.
OpenMapTiles#
The vector tiles follow the OpenMapTiles schema, which sets the layers the tiles contain and what each layer holds. Its licence asks every map made with it to credit OpenMapTiles alongside OpenStreetMap.

Overture Maps Foundation#
Points of interest (shops, cafés, services and other venues) shown on the map and returned by search, with phone numbers, websites and addresses where the data has them. Overture Places combines records from several contributors, and each record carries its contributor's licence.

Overture gives this notice for Foursquare's places, which it transformed to its own schema:
Data from Foursquare. Copyright 2024 Foursquare Labs, Inc. All rights reserved. Available under Apache 2.0.
Foursquare's NOTICE file for the data, which applies to UzMaps' use of it, is published at opensource.foursquare.com/places-notice-txt.
UzMaps changes the Overture data it uses: it keeps only places in Uzbekistan with a confidence of at least 0.5 whose category it can map to its own, maps those categories, and leaves out places that duplicate an OpenStreetMap one.
Microsoft Building Footprints#
Building outlines, flat and in 3D, where OpenStreetMap has no building mapped. They are traced from aerial imagery by machine learning; a footprint that overlaps an OpenStreetMap building is left out.

| Licence | CDLA Permissive 2.0 |
GeoNames#
Place names in Uzbek (Latin and Cyrillic), Karakalpak, Russian and English where OpenStreetMap lacks them, and population figures for populated places. Both are used by search and geocoding.

Copernicus DEM#
Elevation data for the 3D terrain and the hill shading on the map. UzMaps converts the 90 m model (GLO-90) into terrain tiles, so the credit is the one given for adapted data.

A deployment that builds its terrain from the 30 m model (GLO-30) instead credits Copernicus WorldDEM-30 in the same words.
Wikimedia Commons#
Photos in place cards. A place's photo is the image its Wikidata entry names, taken from Wikimedia Commons. Each photo has its own author and licence, and both are shown with the photo.

| Licence | Chosen by each photo's author, and given on the photo's page on Wikimedia Commons |
Wikidata, used only to find the photo, is released under CC0 1.0 and needs no credit.
